QUESTION ABOUT THE VETERANS AFFAIRS AND DISABILITY? I’ll try to make this short… I was medically discharged in 1997 for Psoriasis (10%) and Vocal Cord Dysfunction (10%) for a total of 20% Service connected disability. I’ve tried several times to get a disability rating or my lower back claiming it to be from my work as a Field Artillery mechanic. I’ve disc problems and arthritis now. So in the summer of 2010 I put the claim in and it came back approved but not for my duties as a mechanic but the VA is stating that disc and arthritis are being caused from the Psoriasis. So the VA gave me a 10% for the back and 10% for the arthritis. That’s a total of 40%. 1. I’ve a total of 40% but I only get paid for 30%. I need someone to explain this to me. 2. My back literally acts up once a month, sometimes twice a month where it’s hard for me to move around. When it’s acting up I’ve a hard time sleeping because of the discomfort. Is there a disability rating for not being able to sleep only when my back acts up. I’m not trying to suck the system dry but I want what I deserve. Thanks.

Is there a relation between psoriatic arthritis and psoriasis? About 30% of people with Psoriasis will develop Psoriatic Arthritis. Is that what you mean? ….

I need to know, would having Psoriasis in my foot make me have Psoriatic Arthritis in my back? I’ve Psoriasis in my foot. I’ve really bad back pains ever since I got it. I’m not sure if it’s just normal back pains or if I’ve Psoriatic Arthritis.. Also, what can I do about the Psoriasis?

Psoriasis on my hands and no health insurance.? In the winter my skin protests. I usually get dandruff and slight psoriasis on my scalp. This season it started on my hands as dry skin, then patches on my joints. It all went away except for 2 patches. One on my index finger at the cuticle, and one in between my pinkie and ring finger. It looks like arthritic psoriasis. These 2 patches are persistent and flair up then calm down. At it's worst it oozes constantly and my index finger hurts like hell. I’ve used: cortizone 10, A&D ointment, Antibiotic ointment, psoriasin and hydrogen peroxide. Any suggestions besides going to a doctor? I’m poor and don't have health insurance. Maybe some home remedies or products I’ven't mentioned. Thanks.

Help! I think my dog I've had for 13yrs. Has psoriasis on her skin? She has a medium coat and always had skin problems no matter what I feed her and she's on frontline. Now its getting worse and is also different. She would get hot spots every once in a while but now she’s itching constantly and developing reallly flaky skin and some hair loss in odd areas like on her side, her tail, her back legs and the usual itchy spot on her back above her hind legs. I gave her a bath with a special shampoo for dogs with sensitive skin and she's in the basement right now licking herself. She constantly licks herself and I know she's itchy but doesn't have the energy to scratch all day long (arthritis). She stays indoors most of the time. Her stomach is really itchy and she actually whines when I brush it for her.
